The hands of Christ

Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Serbia are Eastern European countries, that have endured much tragedy in their histories  They are the countries where the Holocaust began.  They are in a sense "the forgotten countries, and they experienced the horrors of the Holocaust and the Stalinist pogroms.  Their people have suffered genocide, totalitarianism, and occupation.  This is their experience since Hitler and Stalin overran their societies and eliminated the weakest of their people and also the greatest.  Their leadership was decimated and because of that, they are still in the learning phase of how to become a society which values each and every human being.   As the weakest members of society the disabled children are the least valued.  We, who have been blessed with more than 200 years of political independence must assist them in saving their children.  There is awareness, missions, teaching of humanitarian principles and money.   They are in a learning phase, parents who have no resources have to put their children in orphanages.  The orphanages do the best with the money they are given.  The government must fund orphanages as well as give help to families.   There is corruption where resources don't get to the children who need them.    We have the same struggles here and we can use what we have learned and also use our resources to reach the orphans of Eastern Europe.   Acceptance of people who have disabilities  has been a long hard struggle and in our own history.  There were mental institutions where the conditions were just as harsh.  Part of solving the problem of the world wide orphan crisis is adoption.   These countries are making their special needs children available for adoption to countries where they will be loved and get the care they need.   We are called to be Christ to these countries and the suffering of their people.    Christ suffered, was abandoned, and put to death by his own country's rulers.   He knows and suffers also for the children.  When God's people are abandoned, we must be his hands or we are rejecting Jesus's sacrifice.   The question for each of us is how can we be Christ's hands.  The ministry of Reece's Rainbow, brings awareness and the opportunity to give money and to adopt Christ's children.   I think we can be a beacon of hope to these newly independent countries of how valued these children are to us and to the Lord who created them.   Our featured child this month is Laurel please be Christ's hands and donate to her fund, so she will be one of Christ's little one's who are rescued.
